A divorce can be among one of the most difficult experiences in someone’s life. During this difficult time, you need sound legal advice you can trust, but also understanding and patience. We can help you through this emotionally and financially demanding time as painlessly as possible.
In any divorce, there are complex issues to sort out, including division of assets, property and debts, business issues, child custody, visitation and spousal support. We have handled divorces for clients for over 15 years and have the experience and knowledge to help your divorce proceed smoothly.
Uncontested vs. Contested
In Georgia, the two most common divorces are “uncontested” and “contested.” An “uncontested” divorce is when the parties are able to amicably resolve all the issues that pertain to their divorce. Call our office to obtain a fee for an uncontested divorce.
On the other hand, a “contested” divorce is when the parties, cannot resolve one or more of the issues in their case. In this type of divorce, the parties are usually required to participate in mediation in an attempt to resolve their case before going to trial. With a contested divorce, negotiations to reach a resolution can sometimes become complicated and require aggressive positions. Jon Weinberg is sensitive to your unique situation, and we will aggressively protect your interests. We will work very hard to fight for what YOU want and deserve. If the parties are unable to resolve their case during mediation, then the case will proceed to a trial. We have tried not only bench trials, but jury trials as well.
Some of the issues that may have to consider include, but are not limited to:
• Child Custody
• Child Support
• Visitation
• Alimony or financial support
• Division of the marital assets
• Division of marital and non-marital debts
• Business issues
